Case Studies

Heading away from portables in an educational context, i thought looking at a few case studies from other areas might be a good way to get some inspiration for how the actual structure could be as relocatable and 'R.A.R.E' as possible.

This site is a case study on a timber house in Queensland. There is a PDF within the site but a quick quote from the summary says "its' timber framed construction enables cost effective removal of a house from its' site and its' relocation to another site. This generates an exciting array of possibilities, encompassing cost and environmental benefits, architectural possibilities of improvement and reinterpretation, and historical continuity through reuse".

QT Homes is a Queensland based company that specialises in relocatable houses. Their houses range from 1 to 5 bedroom with 1 bedroom homes selling at $24,000.

I picked out a few images from the site:

Well hope some of these different approaches to relocatable buildings outside of the educational area help!
